Christopher McGerr - Game Designer

Nebula

Duration: January 2012 (Global Game Jam)
Role: Game Designer
Team Size: 5 Full-Time

Nebula was a small game developed as part of Global Game Jam 2012, meaning that it was completed within a 48 hour time span.

The project was completed using XNA game studio, with the final product being made available for judgement by the judges of Scottish Game Jam 2012, held in the Saltire Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University. The theme of this Game Jam was simply a picture of Ouroboros, and the symbology of rebirth. It is available to download from the Global Game Jam website.

In Nebula you play as a star absorbing smaller stars and avoding larger stars. The simple premise allowed for the game to be conceived, developed, and completed within the short time span of the jam.

As a Game Designer on this project I was responsible for the conception of the game and the management of internal game deadlines. I was also responsible for the creation of some of the art resources used within the game, since the project team was made up of two designers and three programmers.
