Christopher McGerr - Game Designer

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame

Release Date: February 2019
Role: Design Support
IP Holder: The LEGO Movie

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame is an adaptation of the film of the same name, and serves a sequel to 2014's The LEGO Movie Videogame.

The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame features a number of quest-based open-world inspired levels and Hub areas inspired by the gameplay of LEGO Worlds. In addition to the main game, a number of free DLC level packs were made available post-release.

The game was released in North America in February 2019 and Europe in March 2019; debuting on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Steam, and Switch.

My workload on the project was divided roughly as below, though in the interests of clarity my implementation efforts as with all LEGO projects did not involve the creation of assets and in some cases the implementation was a joint-effort with another designer.

Unlike the majority of the projects I have worked on at TT Games Studios, I worked on The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame only in an implementation capacity, joining the project at a late stage in development. My implementation efforts extended to the 'The Old West' and 'Planet Sparkles' open worlds, with additional work done on other base game open worlds. In addition to this, I also worked on the 'The Queen's Palace' DLC open world.
